Meet Marita Banda.

Marita Banda is a Zambian multidisciplinary artist working across mediums including literary arts, culinary arts, conceptual art and installation.

A published author writing across diverse genres: flash fiction, poetry, non-fiction.

Her poetry collection Telling It Like It Is features pieces in Tumbuka, English and French while Traditional Zambian Etiquette for Modern Living, Youth Edition, a reference book on decorum is used as a textbook at the Zambia Institute for Diplomacy and International Studies (ZIDIS). This title earned her the Mulher Forte Award (Botswana) for Best Nonfiction in 2025 and in the same year it was nominated for Best Non-Fiction in the African Authors Recognition Award (Namibia).

Other works have been published in various anthologies and magazines locally and internationally in Nigeria and the UK.
